Sergio Olguín | The Foreign Girls | OUT NOW | REVIEW | BLOG TOUR

Plot: When two European backpackers are found murdered after attending a high society party in northern Argentina, sacrificial offerings left near the bodies point to their involvement in a Macumba rite.

But their friend Veronica thinks the story smacks of a cover-up & she is determined to get real justice for the 'foreign girls'...

A tightly plotted tale full of twists & turns. I really enjoyed this one.

"She had that feeling of being at the start of a story. Of a love story, of a tragedy. Of something that can only happen when one is fully alive.

People: Veronica is a complex character who is determined to get to the truth, unafraid of any dangers that may lay in the way, she will stop at nothing until she finds it.

The rest of the cast are credible and well-drawn - I especially like Federico.

PlaceSet in Northern Argentina, the places are so vividly described, it felt like I was there alongside Veronica. I also really enjoyed the exploration of social and political issues weaved through the story, as I knew little-to-nothing about this region beforehand.

Pace: This is a medium-paced, mysterious read it flowed easily and has been well translated. I didn't feel like I was missing out in terms of story continuation by not reading the first one in the series but I will certainly go and read it now for another fix of Olguín's writing.
