Gianrico Carofiglio | The Measure Of Time | OUT: March 18th | REVIEW | BLOG TOUR

Plot:

Lorenza, a former lover of Guerrieri, shows up in his office. Her son Jacopo stands convicted of the first-degree murder of a local drug dealer.

For the appeal, Lorenza turns to Guerrieri. But he is not convinced of the innocence of Lorenza's son, nor does he have fond memories of how their relationship ended two decades earlier. Nevertheless, he accepts the case; perhaps to pay a melancholy homage to the ghosts of his youth...

This immersive novel is one you can easily get lost in, I particularly enjoyed the trial chapters the world of evidence, clues & confessions. It is the perfect read for fans of courtroom drama & John Grisham.

"Being able to get by on your own is good. Thinking you always must get by on your own, without ever asking for help, is a weakness disguised as strength.

People: Guerrieri jumps off the page, you can easily imagine meeting him in real life. His character has such depth it is as interesting to see what is going on in his head as it is to see what is going on around him.

Place: Set in Bari, Italy I found it really fascinating to see how legal cases are prepared for and executed.

Pace: This is a medium-paced read, that keeps you turning the pages aside from a few moments of stalemate. I shall certainly be going back and reading the rest of the series.
